Building Startups That Actually Make It

We started torinalyqua in 2019 because too many founders were burning through cash without understanding their numbers. Five years later, we're still helping startups across Australia make smarter financial decisions that keep their doors open.

Where We Started

Back in early 2019, I watched three promising startups fold—not because they had bad ideas, but because they ran out of runway. Their founders were brilliant people who simply didn't have the financial literacy to spot trouble coming.

That's when Elliot Travers and I decided to build something different. We'd both spent years in corporate finance and saw the same patterns repeating. Startups needed more than just bookkeeping—they needed someone who could translate their financials into actual decisions.

So we set up shop in Port Macquarie, brought on a small team, and started working with founders who were hungry to understand their numbers. Not just track them, but actually use them to build something sustainable.

What Drives Our Work

Clear Numbers, Clear Decisions

We break down complex financial data into plain language that founders can actually use. No jargon, no confusion—just honest insights that help you see where your money's going and what to do about it.

Strategic Planning That Works

Cash flow forecasts shouldn't sit in a spreadsheet gathering dust. We help you build financial plans that adapt as your startup grows, so you can make decisions with confidence instead of crossing your fingers.

Partnership Over Transactions

We're not here to send you monthly reports and disappear. Our team works alongside yours, helping you understand the story your numbers tell and what moves make sense for your specific situation.

The People Behind torinalyqua

Our team is small by design. We're not trying to service hundreds of clients—we work with startups who want genuine financial guidance, not just another service provider on their expense sheet.

Everyone here has worked in either startup environments or corporate finance, which means we understand both the chaos of early-stage companies and the discipline needed to build something that lasts.

Elliot Travers

Co-Founder & Financial Strategist

Elliot spent eight years helping tech companies manage their growth financing before co-founding torinalyqua. He's the one who'll spot issues in your burn rate before they become problems.

His approach is straightforward—he asks hard questions about your numbers and helps you figure out answers that actually work for your business model. No sugarcoating, but also no judgment about where you're at right now.

When he's not buried in spreadsheets, you'll find him surfing at Town Beach or trying to convince local cafes to stock better coffee beans.

How We Actually Work

Honesty Over Optimism

If your runway's shorter than you think, we'll tell you. If your pricing model doesn't work at scale, we'll talk through it. Founders need truth, not cheerleading—especially when it comes to money.

Education, Not Gatekeeping

We explain everything we do so you understand your own financials. The goal is to make you more capable, not more dependent on us. Though we're happy to stick around as long as you find it useful.

Context Over Templates

Every startup's different. What works for a SaaS company won't work for a marketplace, and what makes sense in month three looks different in month thirty. We adapt our approach to where you actually are.

Proactive, Not Reactive

We keep an eye on your numbers between our meetings so we can flag issues early. You'll hear from us if something looks off, not just when you reach out asking why the bank account's lower than expected.

Let's Talk About Your Numbers

If you're building something and want someone who'll be straight with you about the financial side, we should chat. No obligation—just a conversation about where you're at and whether we can help.
